Celebrate the Long Weekend

Hello Parents;

I hope that you are enjoying a beautiful long weekend and have been able to spend it with family and friends. It is so nice to feel the warmth of the air again.

As teachers, we are back in school on Tuesday. Much of the day is spent making plans for next year and looking over teaching schedules and special events. As a result of our increased enrollment we will be looking for a new grade 5/6 classroom teacher. And no, Mrs. Anderson is not leaving. The new teacher will be an addition to our present staff numbers.This person would be a generalist in the area being able to teach all the core subjects. It will be interesting to see who God brings our way and how this person will add to the character of our school. Having a new teacher on board will also allow us to make some changes in our junior and senior high. I will make this announcement as decisions are made.

This week brings about our junior high track meet in Vulcan on Wednesday. The meet gets underway at 9:00 and will go for the whole day. We have two senior high boys who qualified for the zone track meet and they will be in Lethbridge on Thursday.

Our guest speaker from Creation Ministries will be at Brant on Thursday morning. His talk is entitled, "Biology and the Bible." All parents are welcome to attend. The presentation is geared for grades 7 - 12 and will start at 10:15.

A reminder that if you ordered hanging baskets in late March and early April, they will be arriving this Thursday and can be picked up at the High River Baptist Church in their gymnasium. The flowers will be ready by 3:00 and will need to be picked up by 6:00 PM that afternoon.

I know that our society board is planning a June membership meeting to discuss future plans for our school. Please look for their announcement coming out shortly and plan to attend this exciting and very important meeting. Please continue to pray for our society board as well.

Last Saturday our school float was in the Little Britches parade in High River. I hope that many of you were able to attend. Thank you to all the students who came out to help. For the older students who passed out candy along the parade route and for our younger students who rode inside our school house and waved to the crowds. Both groups of students were excellent ambassadors for our school. The next parade will be in Okotoks June 17.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
