Fun at the Maze

Hello Parents;

Our week finished off on a very fun note. The day at the corn maze was a very enjoyable time for all students. Although the weather was certainly not promising early in the morning, we were blessed to have a dry but cool day. We were able to cheer on our favourite pig in the pig races; green won both times. Ethan Lobdell showed us how to put a chicken to sleep, a very funny demonstration. No one got lost in the maze and everyone made it back home safely. Thank you to all the parents who came as chaperones. As always your presence is a big help.

Last Thursday evening was our parent/teacher night. It was a pleasure to be able to meet and talk with the parents who came out. We are off to a very good start this year and it is promising to be a very exciting year. Our choir has over 25 voices so far. We are getting ready for our student body elections and our first chapel is fast approaching.

Our senior girls volleyball team played in a tournament over the weekend in Black Diamond. They are off to a much better start this year than last. It's amazing what a year of experience will do for a player's ability. Thank you to Chrissie Nauta who is the coach of this team. Our senior boys will be playing in their first tournament this coming weekend. For our students in grades 3 - 9, we have our cross country running competition at SABC next Monday, Sept. 25. All parents are welcome to attend. We will be travelling by bus and plan to leave Brant by 8:45 AM and return to school by 3:30.

As previously mentioned our high school students will be going on a Mission trip to Tijuana Mexico. There are 33 students who have signed up to come. With this many students attending, we are hoping to raise enough money to build two houses during our time in Tijuana. This means that we need to raise $21,000. If any of you have work around your place that our students could do in return for a donation or if you just want to make a donation, please contact the school. We will be in Mexico from January 31 to February 7. Each student is responsible for raising their own funds to cover their individual costs for the trip.

Last year we presented the Christmas story at Sheppard's Park in High River over a 3 night span in early December. If we are going to do this again this Christmas we will need at least 6 or 7 parents to volunteer. The students will do the acting but we need help with the food, costumes, decoration inside the building and securing animals for the play. Please let me know if you would like to help. The tentative dates are Dec. 7, 8, 9.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers for Brant Christian. It is a very rewarding experience to work in a school where the parents are so supportive. Please contact the school whenever you have questions. This is the best way to get the correct information.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
