This is the time of year where we prepare for Christmas and hand out the “gift” of report cards. Lord willing, report cards will be going home with students on Monday, November 18. Please be sure to book a time during Parent-Teacher Conferences (Nov. 20 & 21) to meet with teachers. Chocolate is a delicious gift for Christmas as a well as a great way to support our grads, especially just before Christmas! WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE With the cold weather of winter fast approaching, our Grade 10 Entrepreneurship class is organizing a winter clothing drive. If you have any lightly used or new winter clothing you are willing to donate, please bring it to school by Thursday, November 14. If you have any questions, or need more information, please phone or text 403-336-2781. Just to let you know, the Grade 10 students will be selling all donated items at Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 20 & 21. Bring cash and come away with wonderful, warm, winter clothes!
Volleyball Update Our triple ball girls are finishing up a very successful year in the next week. Unfortunately our Senior Girls volleyball bowed out in zone qualifications, however, our Senior Boys are in the midst of the South Zone championships. They won a hard-fought nailbiter in three sets against St. Mary’s and will be playing two games today, including a big test against 2nd ranked Taber Christian. If the game is being streamed on Youtube, you might be able to watch the game by typing in the key words, “1A senior boys volleyball zones 2024 Brant Christian”. Go Eagles Go!
Hot Lunch Orders December and January Hot Lunch orders are open on www.schoolcashonline.com, however the issue with students whose last names begin between N-Z has not yet been fixed. December is not due until November 28th so we are hoping our urgent request for a fix will be complete for ordering next week. Thank you for your patience.
Brant Christmas Production We are excited to announce this year's Christmas production, "Away in a Mango"! Join the passengers and crew of the SS Mango as their shopping excursion turns perilous after a sudden storm leaves them stranded on a deserted island! Will they be found in time for the ship’s big Christmas Concert? Come and find out! Please invite your friends and family to join us for an evening of music and worship as we celebrate the birth of our Saviour! Our worship teams will be leading us in some Christmas singing followed by our play starring the K-6 students! The show begins at 7:00pm on Thursday, December 12th. Further details for our singers and actors will be sent home to each family.
HEALTH AND SAFETY REMINDER Just a reminder Brant Christian is a peanut/nut free school. Please ensure that students are not bringing food with peanuts or tree nuts as part of their ingredient list as we do have several students who have severe peanut/nut allergies. Thank you for your consideration in keeping all of our students safe.
AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP For safety reasons, we would like to ask parents who pick up young children after school, to please refrain from driving into the parking lot while students are making their way to their buses.
The Great Grad Brant Bottle Drive This year’s grad class “Class of 2025” is organizing some fundraisers and one of the major fundraisers will be a bottle drive. Brant Christian Grad has been added as an account at both the Okotoks and High River Bottle Depots. So when you drop off your bottles, just ask them to put the funds under Brant Christian and you will be supporting the grad “Class of 2025”! Thanks so much:)
Brant Society Board Meetings As always, parents are invited to attend Brant Society Board meetings that take place every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7pm at the High River Alliance. Should you want to come see what all the wonderful things the board is doing to continue to further the Brant Christian School mission, the next meeting is Tuesday, December 10. If you (parents), as society members, have not received an email from the Brant Christian Society Board to please email chair@brantchristian.org.
Brant School Community Buy and Sell We now have a private Buy and Sell page on Facebook, just for the BCS community! Search “Brant Christian School Community Buy & Sell” and request to join. Here you can post personal items for sale, post what you’re looking for or pick up the perfect second-hand treasure from another person in the BCS community. Feel free to then invite other BCS families to the group. Just remember: No small business posts please!
